Webinar on ‘Fabulous Fibers : Chemistry of Fabrics’

        Webinar The Department of Chemistry and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Dr. Patangrao Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Sangli organized Webinar for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of college. The theme of webinar was ‘Fabulous Fibers : Chemistry of Fabrics’. The session was conducted on Google meet platform (link: meet.google.com/bgh-qwbq-bjk) on 21st October 2022 (Friday) at 09.00 am to 10.00 am. 

        The session was graced by Prin. Dr. D. G. Kanase (Organising Chairman), Dr. S. M. Landage (Resource Person), Dr. A. R. Supale (Co-ordinator, IQAC) and Dr. A. M. Sargar. On the occasion, Dr. T. R. Lohar, (Convener of event) gave welcome speech and introduced the resource person. The addressing the audience, Dr. S. M. Landage (Assistant Professor in Textile Chemistry, DKTE Society's Textile and Engineering Institute, Ichalkaranji) covered topics such as basic concepts of textile chemistry, difference between fibres and fabrics, classification of fibres etc. He narrated use of banana pulp in making currency notes as well as use of polyamide fibres in surgery. He also elaborated advantages and disadvantages of Cotton, Linen, Jute, Wool, Silk, and Nylon fibers. 

       

        After his lecture the students were given time to interact with him. Students felt that the session was more informative and interactive. Finally, Dr. R. N. Deshmukh concluded session by offering vote of thanks.

Poster Presentation Competition-2022

Report

With the theme of “Chemistry of Fabrics”, a poster presentation competition for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. students was held on 19^th October 2022 by the Department of Chemistry & IQAC of college. The event inaugurated by Prin. Dr. D. G. Kanase. In inaugural speech, Principal Sir highlighted the main objective of this competition. Principal Sir and other dignitaries of the day reviewed each poster and taught the extra knowledge with pleasure and enthusiasm.

The students participated, showed positive involvement and smoothly defended their posters in front of the Judges viz. Dr. A. M. Sargar and Dr. R. N. Deshmukh of our college. The overall event was successful and admired in the college. It stood to be beneficial to memorize & update the chemistry of various fabrics. The whole event was organized in the supervision of Dr. A. R. Supale (Co-ordinator, IQAC) and Dr. T. R. Lohar (Convener).

The total 90 students from B.Sc. (U.G. category) and (P.G. category) have been participated and presented posters on competition theme. The total 08 prizes were declared.
